The principal glory of Monte lies in its Palace Tropical Gardens, part of which is made into a Japanese garden. Among the sights is an historical olive tree that was producing olives for the Romans in 300 AD. There are numerous azulejos [tile] pictures depicting Portuguese history and a museum at htree unconnected levels.
