European Hostels  Keflavik Hostels - Hostel List for Keflavik, Iceland

Keflavik Travel Guide  Keflavik Travel Guide

Keflavik is a small town (as are almost all Icelandic towns) on a peninsula in the southwest corner. I lived there (more exactly, on a military base there) for 12 months (1985 1986). I found the people friendly, the wind very cold, and the hot springs a wonderful location to swim when the wind chill is 40F. The most popular spot, by far, in the area is referred to as the Blue Lagoon. Iceland in general is a nice location to visit, but I wouldnt want to spend another year there. If you like mutton, small poultry, and fish (Ysa (haddock), which tastes like cod; Salmon; mutton from a very rough looking goat like creature (also known as sheep); Puffin, a bird which only resides on an island off the coast). When I was there, the country was VERY formally Lutheran. Fish on Friday... everywhere... dont like fish Tough!
